Good afternoon,

As the 2017 boating season begins, the Oneida County AIS Team is gearing up to help both new and seasoned Clean Boats, Clean Waters Watercraft Inspectors become armed with how and why educational awareness is so important in preventing the spread of AIS and learn the tips and tricks of the trade.  This fun and educational event will take place during three FREE Clean Boats, Clean Waters workshops, hosted by Oneida County Land & Water Conservation Department.

Thursday April 27th         5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. – Rhinelander at Hodag Park’s Boom Lake Landing

Thursday May 25th          5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. – Three Lakes at Cy Williams Park’s Picnic Shelter

Wednesday June 7th      5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. – Minocqua Community Center, 3rd floor

Three Clean Boats, Clean Waters Workshops

As the 2017 boating season begins, the Oneida County Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Team is gearing up to help both new and seasoned Clean Boats, Clean Waters Watercraft Inspectors become armed with how and why educational awareness is so important in preventing the spread of AIS and learn the tips and tricks of the trade. This fun and educational event will take place during three FREE Clean Boats, Clean Waters workshops, hosted by Oneida County Land & Water Conservation Department.

Workshop presenters include:

 Sandy Wickman, Outreach Specialists - University of Wisconsin Extension Lakes and Water Resource Management Specialist - Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, will present “Hands-on Aquatic Plant Species Identification.” Her wealth of knowledge will help you understand the beautiful underwater gardens that live below the water’s surface and help you to become a pro at spotting native and invasive plants.

 Stephanie Boismenue, AIS Coordinator - Oneida County Land & Water Conservation Department, will present “Look What the Craft Dragged In” as she walks you through a real watercraft inspection from start to finish and shows you how and where invasive species are most likely to hitch a ride. She will also discuss the upcoming statewide AIS Drain Campaign and the Fourth of July Boat Landing Blitz.

 Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Conservation Warden’s will present “A Law Enforcement Perspective” and share their role in protecting our natural resources by preventing the spread of AIS.

o David Walz, Supervisor, Conservation Warden, will present in Three Lakes

o Tim Ebert, Conservation Warden, will present in Minocqua

Clean Boats, Clean Waters resources, door prizes, refreshments and lite snacks will be provided.
