More Damage

Well I'm happy to report that the power went back on for Circle Dr. residents about 4:00 pm on Thursday. Unfortunately, I took a little ride and there were some more trees down. My neighbor torwards the end of the road, Mr. Sammuelson , had one of his trees fall on his roof. He said to avoid damage to his newly sided house they had to have someone who owned a crane come and remove it. Hope all goes well there.Further down the road Skip Trunnel's place had a tree fal that subsequently took out two other trees on it's way down. Luckily though it wasn't near the house.

And at Northern Light Glass I had a window pop out and break on the screen porch. The temp inside was 43 degrees after being without power since sometime Tuesday. So I'm sure those residents were happy to see the WPS truck come. Kari Zambon reported that they had trees go through the roof of 3-4 cabins at Holiday Acres. Poor Kim will be busy I think. The power was also restored to the south side of the lake as I could see lights last night where there was only blackness.

Storm Damage

As I look out at the lake tonight it's mostly black, no lights, except for the ones on my end of the lake. Somehow we escaped the power outage that's plaguing pretty much the rest of the lake. Even though the large tree branch that you see in the pictures completely blocked our driveway, and fell within inches of the electrical pole, we escaped. Most of time we usually seem to be the first to go and the last to get back on, but this time we lucked out. Not to worry I''m sure our time will come again soon. And hopefully I'll be seeing all those lights I usually see in the next day or two. On the news tonight, they said Rhinelander still had 8400 customers without power and that it may take a few days to get power back to all their customers. So in the meantime if you do have power and have some photos you might want to share, send them my way and I'll post them. Otherwise, stay warm and be patient.

Lake Thompson Annual Picnic August 2010

Gert Rossi stands over a a delectable spread of tasty dishes .

The guys take in the stunning look of Kim's wooden boat. It is quite impressive.

Everyone looks quite happy visiting with their neighbors, sharing refreshments, waiting for the grill to heat up.

L to R  Neighbors Patty Bast, Ed McEnroe, Jean Kilbane, and Gert Rossi

And our beloved Board member Bob Rossi looking only slightly befuddled :)
Thank you Mary Oelerich for the photos. Sorry it took me awhile to get them logged in here.

Hey, there are Walleye in the Lake Thompson!

Vern Storm snagged this nice walleye and I just happened to have my camera with me out in the boat so I could take a picture for him. He released this one after the photo, but said he had another for dinner!
