We had our Lake Thompson Association (LTA) Christmas
Party this last Dec. 2 at Holiday Acres Resort.
There were 26 attending. Social
hour was great with wonderful tasting appetizers to sample. We had a wonderful meal and an out of this
world dessert! I won’t tell you what it
was, so you’ll just have to come next year.
We also collected nonperishable food for the Rhinelander Food Pantry.

We have some sad news to report that Bob Haskins of
Woodstock, IL, and Jean Kilbane of Rhinelander, passed away this last Fall.
============================================================
Paul Schreiber gave us some news about our lake’s weed
condition. So far we are okay without
any of the bad weeds in our lake. A BIG
thanks to our boys that watch the boat landing!
Paul also announced that we received our grant money from the DNR for
our AIS program. Please see reverse for a further message from Paul.
============================================================
A LTA board meeting was held
to discuss events for 2017, which included mailing of the ice-out and dues
notice. Please see the enclosed form to be completed:
2017 Lake Thompson Association Membership
Annual Dues Invoice/Ice-Out Guess
Also, please see this year’s LTA event dates on the
reverse. More to follow later.

For those of you traveling to warmer climates this
Winter, we wish you safe travels and look forward to seeing you when you
return. For everyone else who stays on
the lake, we are hoping for lots of snow and good ice to enjoy Winter sports
and activities.

If you have any news to be mentioned, please let us
know for the next newsletter. Thanks.

A message from Paul Schreiber, Vice
President /Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS)
Director, Lake Thompson Association:
Greetings to our lake
association members! As we enter into
the new year, our lake association will continue to be fully committed to the fight
against Aquatic Invasive Species entering our lake. Although Lake Thompson currently remains
free of invasive plants such as Asian Water Milfoil, we continue to see rapid
expansion of invasive plants and species throughout northern Wisconsin
lakes. These harmful invasive plants are
not only harmful to ecosystems of lakes and rivers but also can have a
potentially negative impact on lake property values.
As we approach the 2017 boating
season, we will once again implement our
“Clean
Boats/Clean Waters” program. The core
initiative of the program will
concentrate on boat inspections at our public boat landing. We feel incoming boat inspections is the best
‘front line’ defense against invasive species entering into our waters. Last season, our junior conservation officers
registered 400 plus hours of boat inspections ranking Lake Thompson in the top
1% of all Wisconsin lakes.
We thank all of our
association members for their continuing support in our lake management
efforts. Through your lake membership
association fees, we are able to continue with our Clean Boat/Clean Waters
program.
Best Wishes in 2017!
Paul E. Schreiber
